Why is a “comfort zone” so comfortable?  Is it really comfortable when we take a moment to pull back a layer or two?

Comfort zones are called that because we are falsely assured that we have all the answers, all things are under control, we have just the right ingredients and amounts of this or that. Now we sit not moving and not changing.  BAM! A comfort zone!

We falsely delude ourselves in this way time and  again and  wallow in our non-content, unfulfilled, human engineered, over managed, limited at best COMFORT ZONE – are you comforted?

We thirst within ourselves for something more – we hear a voice – have an idea, but our ball and chain of fear keeps us down, beckons us back to what we know or think we know.  So we seek to find comfort in food, routine, habits, things - unhealthy relationships.

Let's take a moment to redefine what true comfort would be like, grab onto God's truth and let it begin to change our action as we allow it to permeate our hearts.

Our amazing, powerful Creator loves us with a love that never fails, never ends. Could He be a better source of comfort? Could He become our comfort zone---whatever He says, whatever He commands of us, leads us to, wherever He says go, whomever He says love—those things, that place becomes our comfort zone because we trust a God that loves and saves and desires a personal relationship with us.  BUT, something holds us back from total surrender.  What is it? We may or may not even know or may know and are just not ready or willing.

God, I pray that you would clearly, completely, reveal to us our strongholds, our fear and doubts that are holding us back from receiving and ultimately sharing all the love, comfort, grace, mercy, that you freely and willingly give to any of us willing to accept it.  Bring us to a place of willingness and surrender and may those other things we have made as “idols” to take your place become unimportant to us. In Jesus' name. Amen.

God's truth for today: God does not create a spirit of fear, but of power.  Claim that truth today. :^)
